I recently moved away from Kelowna because of the uncontrolled development, which included highrises and proposals for many more. The lack of concern for the impact of developments on residents, the poor planning and overtaxed infrastructure, and the sacrifices made by the community so that developers could make higher profits with higher buildings were appalling.

Ironically, I moved to a much smaller community, and the first proposal for the first three highrises has just come before council there.

Even those who know history seem doomed to repeat it.
